My Iphone

Written by Emery on June 21st, 2009

I ordered the new iPhone and it came in the mail on Friday. Awesome right? I spent the rest of the day with my blackberry because I used to work for AT&T and know how crazy activations can get and I couldn’t be without a phone all day.

I tried to activate it on Friday evening. Emphasis on the word tried.

Long story short….my phone still hasn’t activated. The idea that it could take 48 hours to activate a phone is crazy. It actually, and I’ve activated hundreds of iPhones, takes about 10 minutes even on the busiest day. But it’s not that big of a deal, it happened when I got my first iPhone and a few days without an iPhone isn’t that big of a deal.

Oh and apple sent me an email this morning saying tht they are going to send me a $30 iTunes gift card for my trouble. I didn’t even call Apple. Offensive customer service…..that’s huge. Sometimes customers just want their problems acknowledged and to know the company is working on it. Apple acknowledged the problem, offered something to make it right and let me know they are working to fix it. Most companies ignore the customer and hope they don’t call and complain.

So, my iPhone will activate one day and then I’ll have to drive an hour and a half and return it for another one. My battery won’t charge more than half way. Pretty cool right? Nope.

Bottom line….I’m not stressed because I know, from experience, Apple will make it right. I know I don’t have to fight to be a happy customer.

Anybody else having problems?

Update: I called Apple tech support to see about my battery problem.  The tech told me that it’s normal for my phone to only charge halfway when plugged into the wall rather than the computer.  I told her that I couldn’t really make sense of the idea that Apple could only develop a wall charger that would provide a 50% charge.  Regardless, I want it to charge from the wall not my computer…..restarted the little guy (3rd time) and plugged it in to start charging.  She gave me a case number and now we wait.  Oh and the tech was super nice.
