Life in Selma, AL

Friday, March 20th, 2009

We are officially in Selma.

Here is a picture of where we are living (Alan and Mareike’s house).

Life in Selma is different and awesome……

I went to the courthouse last week to apply for a permit to carry a handgun (weird, I know). Yesterday I stopped by to sign the paperwork and finalize the process. Easy enough right? Well, it turns out a man in Collier County Florida used my social and birth date when he was arrested and convicted of something. So this man is a convicted felon and has an active nationwide felony warrant for his arrest and extradition to Florida. So, I was supposed to be arrested the moment I entered the Sheriff’s Office. After arresting me they would call Florida and begin the extradition process that could take up to 10 days while I sat in the Dallas County Jail. Sounds like a bad/good joke right? It wasn’t and they were pretty serious about it. Obviously, I didn’t get arrested. They ended up calling the Florida Sheriff’s Office and they said it was a mistake. Done……

Did I mention we bought a house today?

What a weird day…and it’s only 12:00.

On the Go

-We made the drive from Greeneville, TN to Selma, AL in about 7 and a half hours.  We finished the trip off with some Red Bull and Coffee on the last leg and made it home at about 3:30AM.

-Woke up at 8 AM and left for the 3.5 hour drive for the beach at 11.

We had a great week at the beach.  We stayed in a house called Teyo on the beach in Seaside, FL.  Two days of sun and two days of crazy rain.  We played, shopped, and ate a ton.  Back in Selma relaxing at Heather’s parents house now.

We will drive to Nashville tomorrow and get back to our new townhouse.  We’ve got a fun weekend coming up to round off this vacation.  I’ll post some pics/vid.  We asked God to let us bless our friends that come to Nashville with a place to stay.  To date we have stayed in our house one night by ourselves. haha Talking about an immediate answer to prayer.  Awesome.
